Many hands sisal woven basket
These naturally dyed and hand woven sisal baskets are made by the Zienzele foundation. The women from this foundation make these baskets (called 'Tsero') at home and occasionally walk as far as ten kilometres to meet, catch up on life and sell their baskets. The sale of these baskets provide support for orphans and building self - reliant communities.
The baskets are made from the sisal plant which grows prolifically in the area, and is ground down to a fibre, dried, dyed, twined and then wrapped and stitched around, a core of sweet grass to create these finally woven baskets.
